Jan Douglass is a Senior Attorney and has been advising clients throughout Colorado for over 10 years. Prior to becoming a licensed Colorado attorney, Jan spent more than 14 years working closely with attorneys and their clients as a paraprofessional. Jan strives to provide efficient and attentive legal representation for her clients, focusing not only on the legal applications to address client concerns, but also listening to the client’s wants and needs so she can be a team player in meeting that client’s goals and business plan.
Jan counsels clients in general business and real estate matters, with services including corporate formation and governance, franchise and association matters, employment issues, and business and real estate transactions including mergers, acquisitions, finance, lease agreements, and landlord/tenant relations. In addition, she also counsels clients operating in the Colorado marijuana industry with expertise in state and local licensing, compliance as well as business sale and acquisition transactions.
Prior to joining the Cantafio Feldmann Nagel Margulis, Jan developed a diverse legal background working as an associate for firms within the Denver Metro area with focuses on landlord/tenant law, corporate law, business planning and mergers and acquisitions. She was also corporate counsel for a large national loan servicing company. Jan founded her own private law practice in 2011 and continued to master her legal skills until finding her home here at Cantafio Feldmann Nagel.
Jan grew up in Colorado and understands the rewards of hard work. As a young mother, Jan earned her bachelors degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix in 2003 after years of night school while working full-time during the day to support her family. Jan continued down that path of hard work, earning her Juris Doctor degree in 2007 from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law while attending the University’s evening program. Her proudest individual accomplishment was when her two daughters and son watched her cross that graduation stage.
