Jan Douglass has devoted her practice of law and expertise to a broad scope of business client needs, including advising clients in general business and real estate matters. Jan has invested a majority of her practice to specializing in advising and providing legal counsel relating to corporate matters such as starting a new business, expanding a client’s existing business model to encompass growth and/or exit strategies, legal representation in connection with complex business structures, and representation in business transactions (including investor relations, capital investments, financing, buying, selling or merging with another business).
Jan has a broad scope of experience and knowledge gained through her years of hands-on representation. Among many attributes, Jan can assist with legal representation and counsel concerning choice of entity for your new business, preparation of necessary documents to govern the ongoing operation of your business enterprise, franchise and association matters, employment related issues, executive or employee incentive plans, lease agreements, landlord/tenant relations, estate planning and probate matters. In addition, Jan has extensive experience in addressing and guiding clients through complex state and local licensing, compliance, and regulatory matters that arise if you are in a regulated industry such as liquor, agricultural, cannabis, HEMP or related industries.
Prior to becoming a licensed Colorado attorney, Jan spent more than 14 years working closely with attorneys and their clients as a paraprofessional. Through this experience and first hand observation, Jan has strived to build her practice with a commitment to provide efficient and attentive legal representation.
Jan grew up in Colorado and understands the rewards of hard work. As a young mother, Jan earned her bachelor's degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix in 2003 after years of night school while working full-time during the day to support her family. Jan continued down that path of hard work, earning her Juris Doctor degree in 2007 from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law while attending the University’s evening program. Her proudest individual accomplishment was when her two daughters and son watched her cross that graduation stage.
