Elizabeth Tharakan, Esq.
Elizabeth Tharakan is a Boulder-based attorney. She specializes in cannabis law, family law, and transactional law focusing on venture deals. Born and raised in New York City, the world’s financial capital, Elizabeth is committed to helping Boulder startups structure deals such that they grow into thriving companies.
After graduating with a B.A. from economics from Wellesley College and a J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Elizabeth initially worked as a business journalist. She eventually found herself acquiring a master’s in journalism from the renowned University of Missouri School of Journalism, cum laude. Being a lifelong subscriber to The New York Times and a self-professed “word nerd,” Elizabeth wound up becoming an Adjunct Professor at the University of Denver Department of Media, Film and Journalism Studies.
Elizabeth enjoys the collaborative and therapeutic role she plays in shaping the mentalities of her clients, skills she developed in the Cardozo Divorce Mediation Clinic. She has cut her teeth into domestic relations practice at Family Law Center of the Rockies.
In her spare time, Elizabeth slow-jogs 10k’s such as the Bolder Boulder, takes photos with her cell phone and posts these on Instagram (which she considers a form of citizen journalism), participates in church activities, cooks spicy ethnic food purchased at the 29th Street Trader Joe’s, and speaks French and Spanish.
