Dan Pabon is a unique breed of lawyer practicing both corporate and litigation work in the firm's Denver office. He also serves as the Speaker Pro Tempore of the Colorado House of Representatives. Dan specializes in commercial real estate development work, commercial litigation, and liquor license law, but has handled dozens of types of cases and clients in his several years of practice including First Amendment, Eminent Domain, and Employment law. Dan advises both public and private clients on governmental and legislative issues that impact their business. Dan's clients have included neighborhood small business owners, residents, and non-profit organizations and he regularly represents developers, general contractors, and owners as well as businesses in real estate and corporate matters, business formation, and litigation.
Mr. Pabon brings a special background to the practice of law. He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder on an academic scholarship where he studied Mechanical Engineering and was also elected Student Body President. After college, Dan worked as a senior technical engineer for a Denver-based software company.
Feeling a desire to help people more than build software and machines, Dan attended the University Of Colorado School Of Law on scholarship. There, he served as Class President his 3L year. Mr. Pabon got early trial experience with legal aid, advocating on his disadvantaged clients behalf for Social Security benefits, he navigated them through family law issues, and acted as general counselor and advocate for those most vulnerable. He also helped CU administration officials and students draft innovative legislation that provided the needed capital to build new academic buildings and retain accreditation, all despite drastic cuts in the state higher education budget.
After working for a distinguished national law firms for a number of years, Dan was elected to the Colorado State House of Representatives in 2010, and entered office on January 12, 2011 representing District 4, which encompasses Northwest Denver. As a dedicated participant within the Denver community, Dan became a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, and is a strong advocate for green technologies and investing in Colorado's new energy economy. Dan also works on higher education issues as the vice-chair of the Auraria Higher Education Center Board, and serves as a voice for senior citizens as a member of the Association for Senior Citizens Board.
Mr. Pabon applies many of the lessons learned as a teenager working the merry-go-round at the old Elitch's to his law practice: always be kind and courteous, take special care with those most in need, and provide everyone an opportunity to reach their goals, whether it be riding the prize horse, accessing justice, or getting a good education.
In his free time, Mr. Pabon is an active member of the West Highlands Neighborhood Association; he loves running, and enjoys teaching and mentoring at North High School.
