Do You Need A Lawyer?
It is always best to have a knowledgeable, experienced attorney when facing any type of legal issues with family and loved ones. Although you may not want to involve a lawyer, you need to be sure to take steps to protect your interests and rights. One of our attorneys will be able to rapidly review your situation and advise you of the best course of action to take.

Divorce
When two people decide to end their marriage they have many other decisions which must be made as well. Assets need to be divided, spousal support must be determined, if children are involved there are child custody and child support issues and more. Our attorneys are knowledgeable in all aspects of divorce proceedings and our firm is here to represent you and your interests.

Mediation
Going to court can be a very time-consuming and costly way to resolve legal issues. There are different ways legal matters can be resolved and mediation is one of those ways. In Colorado, most courts will order parties to attend mediation prior to setting a court hearing in order to resolve the matter within a timely manner. When you are looking for an effective way to resolve divorce or other family law issues, you need an experienced attorney from our firm to assist you in resolving all conflicts within your matter and negotiate a settlement.

Child Custody & Visitation
Determining visitation, child custody, or the allocation of parental responsibilities during separation or divorce proceedings can be an extremely emotional experience. While the best interests of the children must take priority, as a parent you too have rights. Our attorneys are dedicated to protecting your parental rights and serving the best interest of your child or children.

Child Support & Modifications
Child support is the amount of money one parent pays to the other parent in order to provide for the needs of their children once the couple has decided to separate or get divorced. Child support may also be modified after a final order if there has been a substantial change in circumstances. If you have questions about child support or need legal representation to protect your interests in child support negotiations, you need to contact our firm.

Child Relocation From Colorado
Under Colorado law there are very specific requirements which must be met in order for one parent to remove their child from Colorado, either during or after divorce proceedings. An attorney from our firm will be able to advise you of these requirements and your rights, and represent you in removal hearings.

Adoption
There is a tremendous amount of paperwork involved with an adoption and you may have to terminate a biological parent's rights before proceeding with an adoption. We advise adoptive parents, step-parents, and even grandparents, who wish to adopt a child, consult with an attorney from our firm. This will allow us to review your situation, help you determine the best course of action, and work with you closely to complete all paperwork to meet court requirements.

Property Division
The state of Colorado is an equitable distribution state, therefore the court will divide martial property based on the length of the marriage, age and contributions of each of the spouses, and other factors. In certain circumstances, even separate property could be reclassified as marital property. Since Colorado is considered a marital property / equitable distribution state, the assets and debts which were incurred by a couple during the length of their marriage must be divided equitably or fairly between the parties. If you are going through a divorce, you need an attorney to represent you and help protect your assets and interests.

Prenuptial & Postnuptial Agreements
If you have questions about, or would like to prepare a prenuptial or postnuptial agreement, we advise you consult with a knowledgeable attorney from our firm as soon as possible; specific legal requirements and language ensure the validity of the agreement if it becomes necessary. Our attorneys are experienced in the careful drafting of these critical agreements. We will be able to thoroughly review your situation, help evaluate your estate and thus determine how best to proceed.

Alimony/Maintenance
During divorce cases it is common for the court to determine whether one spouse will receive alimony / maintenance from the other spouse. Our firm can assist you in protecting your rights and interests so that you are not forced to pay alimony beyond your means, or so you are not left unable to cover your reasonable expenses once the divorce is finalized.

Paternity
If you are a mother who wishes to receive child support payments from the legal father of your child, or a father who is trying to establish a legal determination that a child is yours, you need to consult with an attorney from our firm. Our attorneys will be able to review your circumstances, advise you of your legal options and provide you the representation you need to protect your interests.

Gay Marriage and Domestic Partnerships
The state of Colorado does not recognize gay or same-sex marriage. This, however, does not prevent same-sex couples from being able to receive many of the same rights as married couples, providing they execute a domestic partnership agreement. If you have questions about gay marriage in Colorado, or wish to prepare a domestic partnership agreement, contact our firm immediately.

Military Divorce
The laws and statutes governing a military divorce are completely different than those for a civilian divorce. If you have questions about, or wish to obtain, a military divorce, you will need an attorney knowledgeable and experienced with military divorce guidelines and procedures. Our attorneys have the skills and familiarity you want representing you and protecting your interests.

Grandparent Rights & Visitation
In certain situations, the grandparents of a child may petition for reasonable grandchild visitation rights. It is important, if you are seeking legal rights to visit your grandchild, that you understand Colorado laws and have a knowledgeable attorney representing you in family court. Our attorneys have the experience and expertise you need. We will work hard to protect your interests and rights.

Step Parent Rights & Visitation
As the step parent of a child, you are afforded certain rights under Colorado law. Our firm understands the bond that can form between a step parent and a child. We also understand even though the step parent may get divorced from the child's parent, it may not follow that the step parent should be expected to give up their visitation or other rights.

Domestic Violence & Protection Orders
Domestic violence comes in many different forms. Spousal abuse, child abuse, physical altercations between roommates, and other instances are all considered to be forms of domestic abuse. If you have any reason to believe you or a loved one is in need an order of protection against or a victim of domestic violence by an ex-spouse, a family member or another person, you need to consult with a family law attorney from our firm immediately. We will provide you with a confidential consultation in order to review your situation and help you determine how best to proceed.
