Lisa L. Pittman
Lisa L. Pittman is an attorney and counselor in Austin, Texas; the State’s
Capitol and home of the Legislature. Having honed her advocacy skills
for over 15 years at top litigation firms based in the major cities of
Texas, Ms. Pittman possesses a broad array of subject matter knowledge
which enables her to adeptly take virtually any civil lawsuit to trial.
Utilizing her courtroom practice perspective, Ms. Pittman has a unique
ability to advise clients on how to avert the costly and unpredictable
nature of trial, and is an experienced proponent of resolving conflicts
early for the benefit of all parties. Ms. Pittman also counsels businesses
on risk management, file maintenance practices, and business decisions
to provide protection in the event of inevitable lawsuits, and provides
outside general counsel advice to established companies and entrepreneurs
in this regard. Ms. Pittman believes it is better to have an attorney
and counselor committed to the culture of your business at the outset,
rather than resorting to a hired gun once papers are served.
Ms. Pittman has handled disputes relating to labor & employment, breach
of contract, commercial banking, fraud, fiduciary duty, construction defect
and injury, deceptive trade practices, premises liability, professional
liability, and product liability. Throughout her career, Ms. Pittman has
developed extensive expertise in all types of insurance coverage, complex
carrier disputes, and litigation over coverage, which affects all businesses.
An enthusiastic native Texan, Ms. Pittman is committed to ensuring her
fellow Texans’ success, and to serving as a trusted liaison to those
interested in entering the Texas market, particularly for emerging industries.
In addition to practicing law, Ms. Pittman spent two years writing legal
reference guides on Texas State and Federal Civil Procedure, as well as
annotated guidance books on Texas codes. Ms. Pittman is highly active
in the American Bar Association as a member of the Tort, Trial, and Insurance
Practice Section, and is vice-chair of the Business Litigation Committee
and Corporate Counsel Committee. Ms. Pittman wrote for the Tort, Trial,
and Insurance Practice Law Journal for eight years, and is now managing
editor and member of the Journal’s editorial board. These publications
survey the evolution of business law across the country each year. Ms.
Pittman is a 2015 graduate of the American Bar Association’s nomination
based Leadership Academy, limited to 24 attorneys across the country every
two years. Currently, Ms. Pittman is connecting with legislators, civic
leaders, and judges as a member of the Austin Bar Association’s
One of Ms. Pittman’s missions is to promote and empower women in
business and healthcare arenas. She started a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2012
to provide a networking and educational forum for professional working
mothers to enable them to refer business and to mentor to each other.
As a teenager, Ms. Pittman volunteered at Texas Children’s Hospital
to provide companionship to terminally ill children. This experience ignited
her lifelong passion to help others. While serving as a runner and paralegal
at law firms during college at The University of Texas, Ms. Pittman observed
that a law degree could serve as an avenue to lead in the community, and
she earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston Law Center
in 2001. In addition to all State courts of Texas, Ms. Pittman is admitted
to practice in the United States District Courts for the Western, Eastern,
Northern & Southern Districts of Texas.
Ms. Pittman enjoys connecting people within her nationwide professional
network. Her values are trust, integrity, commitment, and customer service.
Ms. Pittman is fluent in Spanish, which has proven vital in many aspects
of claim investigation and trial preparation in Texas.
In her spare time, Ms. Pittman enjoys spending time with her two children,
pets, and pursuing outdoor activities-especially in and around the lakes
of beautiful Austin. She can also be found dancing to the beat in the
live music capitol of the world.
