Lisa L. Pittman is an attorney and counselor in Austin, Texas; the State’s Capitol and home of the Legislature. Having honed her advocacy skills for over 15 years at top litigation firms based in the major cities of Texas, Ms. Pittman possesses a broad array of subject matter knowledge which enables her to adeptly take virtually any civil lawsuit to trial. Utilizing her courtroom practice perspective, Ms. Pittman has a unique ability to advise clients on how to avert the costly and unpredictable nature of trial, and is an experienced proponent of resolving conflicts early for the benefit of all parties. Ms. Pittman also counsels businesses on risk management, file maintenance practices, and business decisions to provide protection in the event of inevitable lawsuits, and provides outside general counsel advice to established companies and entrepreneurs in this regard. Ms. Pittman believes it is better to have an attorney and counselor committed to the culture of your business at the outset, rather than resorting to a hired gun once papers are served.

Ms. Pittman has handled disputes relating to labor & employment, breach of contract, commercial banking, fraud, fiduciary duty, construction defect and injury, deceptive trade practices, premises liability, professional liability, and product liability. Throughout her career, Ms. Pittman has developed extensive expertise in all types of insurance coverage, complex carrier disputes, and litigation over coverage, which affects all businesses. An enthusiastic native Texan, Ms. Pittman is committed to ensuring her fellow Texans’ success, and to serving as a trusted liaison to those interested in entering the Texas market, particularly for emerging industries.

In addition to practicing law, Ms. Pittman spent two years writing legal reference guides on Texas State and Federal Civil Procedure, as well as annotated guidance books on Texas codes. Ms. Pittman is highly active in the American Bar Association as a member of the Tort, Trial, and Insurance Practice Section, and is vice-chair of the Business Litigation Committee and Corporate Counsel Committee. Ms. Pittman wrote for the Tort, Trial, and Insurance Practice Law Journal for eight years, and is now managing editor and member of the Journal’s editorial board. These publications survey the evolution of business law across the country each year. Ms. Pittman is a 2015 graduate of the American Bar Association’s nomination based Leadership Academy, limited to 24 attorneys across the country every two years. Currently, Ms. Pittman is connecting with legislators, civic leaders, and judges as a member of the Austin Bar Association’s Leadership Academy.

One of Ms. Pittman’s missions is to promote and empower women in business and healthcare arenas. She started a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2012 to provide a networking and educational forum for professional working mothers to enable them to refer business and to mentor to each other. As a teenager, Ms. Pittman volunteered at Texas Children’s Hospital to provide companionship to terminally ill children. This experience ignited her lifelong passion to help others. While serving as a runner and paralegal at law firms during college at The University of Texas, Ms. Pittman observed that a law degree could serve as an avenue to lead in the community, and she earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston Law Center in 2001. In addition to all State courts of Texas, Ms. Pittman is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Western, Eastern, Northern & Southern Districts of Texas.

Ms. Pittman enjoys connecting people within her nationwide professional network. Her values are trust, integrity, commitment, and customer service. Ms. Pittman is fluent in Spanish, which has proven vital in many aspects of claim investigation and trial preparation in Texas.

In her spare time, Ms. Pittman enjoys spending time with her two children, pets, and pursuing outdoor activities-especially in and around the lakes of beautiful Austin. She can also be found dancing to the beat in the live music capitol of the world.
